PRAYING THE PSALMS

WITH HEART, SOUL, MIND & STRENGTH

An 18th-century rabbi identified ten psalms which embody the healing message of the Book of Psalms.  Finding yourself in each psalm, he said, holds the possibility of bringing wholeness to ourselves and to our world. Come pray the psalms with us in a practice which deepens the breath, stretches the body, and renews the spirit in accompaniment with the healing strains of the harp.  All youth and adults are welcome!

The practice of DoxaSoma seeks to bring wholeness to

our lives by integrating prayer and physical exercise. It offers the benefits of

flexibility, balance, strength, relaxation and spiritual refreshment. DoxaSoma

draws upon the wisdom of the physical body to inform our spiritual journey. It

is powerful when shared in a group where we are literally gathered as the

body of Christ.

Classes are led by Dennette Alwine, certified DoxaSoma instructor
and member of Lombard Mennonite Church.

We are blessed to be accompanied in this series by Doran Blakeslee, a Celtic harper who has taken up study of the harp in his adult years. Doran’s interest in the harp includes exploring the healing properties of this ancient  instrument and its potential role in prayer, meditation, and worship.  Doran is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a member of Lombard Mennonite Church.
